The GACC Midwest is organizing a delegation for German water infrastructure experts to the USA. This visit offers a unique opportunity to connect with leading experts, companies and projects in the U.S. and gain insights into their approaches to water infrastructure management, innovation and sustainability.
To advance the project, we are collecting official expressions of interest from companies and organizations planning to participate in the trip to ensure that we will reach the required minimum number of participants.
This trip provides an excellent opportunity to learn about water infrastructure development in the US and build transatlantic connections for future collaboration. The project is funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP), which will cover the majority of the costs, including all hotels, sightseeing and events, transportation and selected meals. Participants will only pay a participant contribution of $685 and their flights to the US.
The trip will take place from April 7-11, 2025. We will visit the US states of Illinois and Wisconsin. We will visit companies, research institutions, utilities and water infrastructure projects such as:
- The Water Council
- University of Wisconsin Milwaukee
- The Council of the Great Lakes Region
- Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District
- Global Water Center, Marquette University
- Jardine Water Purification Plant
- City of Chicago - Department of Water Management
- Northwestern University - Center for Water Research
The delegation will address the following topics, among others:
- digital transformation and intelligent water systems
- sustainable water management
- Climate resilience and adaptation
- Equity and access to water
- water-energy nexus
- water security
